BHRP's AvatarDarwin, our GPS collared sub-adult male, has not given us any information about his whereabouts since he has been collared. He has not lost his collar as far as we know, but he has disappeared. Gino and Ingrid tried to find him in July as well as during three days of flying last week. During this period in September they flew over the entire coastal area from Chameis to Hottentot Bay without picking up the signal from his collar. In addition they flew transects over the inland areas up to the border of the Sperrgebiet National Park and the farmland, checking prominent features and areas known to be often frequented by hyenas such as the Kaukausib fountain and the Tsaukaib Mountains. I really hope that we will find him – if not, I can just hope that he comes for occasional visits to the coast to feed at a seal colony and that we will pick up his signal then, or that a camera trap will reveal his whereabouts to us.

root's AvatarDear all,
Good news, the 'old' Brown Hyena Research Project's web page at http://www.strandwolf.ORG.ZA is back and online!
Furthermore, some pages are updated and we are working on the Spanish and German version of the website.
Cheers, Thomas

root's AvatarThe Brown Hyena Research Project's web page has unfortunately been offline for four months. I apologize for the inconvenience. We tried our best to get the old domain working again, but unfortunately could not find a solution.

We therefore decided to register the project under a different domain. You will find us now at

www.strandwolf.org

Please update your own web-page in case that you have linked our old domain name to your page.

You can also find us on Facebook now.

Thank you very much!
