This is a list of equipment that would greatly support our work and improve our field work. If you would like to sponsor one or several items on the list, please get in touch at marie.lemerle@strandwolf.org. Thank you for your support!
Research equipment:
- Camera traps - Approximately NAD 6,000 (300€) each (including the camera trap, the metal housing, one SD card and shipment/import duties). Here is an exemple of a model that we use and works nicely in our environment.
- GPS collars - Approximately NAD 50,000 (2,500€) each (including the satellite collar with a dropoff system, the satellite subscription and shipment/import duties).
- 2 electric mountain bikes with trailer - Cost to be confirmed. As we can not drive off-road, electric bikes would be extremely helpful to reach interesting spots such as dens and install camera traps. At the moment, we need to walk to all the spots. A trailer for the car would be needed to transport the bikes around.
Vehicle improvement:
Vehicle service and repairs are one of our main costs.
- Replacement of 4 tires - Approximately NAD 12,000 (600€). Our tires need to be replaced regularly.
- Suspension improvement - Cost to be confirmed. We especially need higher suspension.
- New canopy - Approximately NAD 35,000 (1,800€). Our current canopy is in bad condition, does not lock anymore, and keeps on breaking on the corrugated roads.
Others:
- Flight round trip Europe-Namibia - Approximately NAD 16,000 (800€). To allow Ingrid and Marie to travel between Europe and Namibia once a year.
- Full tank of diesel - NAD 1,600 (80€). We do a lot of driving during field work and diesel is one of our main running costs.
- Pack of 12 AA batteries - NAD 160 (8€). We use a lot of batteries in our camera traps and always need to have a stock.
- Other running costs (e.g. internet, car insurance, rent, water, electricity, salary...) for which we rely on donations.
